Chembroker — Automatic On-the-Fly Content Translation
The Challenge
Chembroker approached us with a problem involving the automatic translation of their website into English.
New products and articles are added to the website on a regular basis. While content managers handled the main content manually, some interface elements — such as buttons, shopping cart elements, product labels and other UI text — were occasionally left untranslated.
For visitors, this resulted in an inconsistent experience and could potentially lead to lost customers.
What We Did
We developed an automatic translation system that works directly as pages are generated.
Custom scripts analyze the content displayed on the website, identify relevant words and phrases in the source language, and add them to a dedicated translation dictionary.
New elements are automatically sent to an online translation service. The resulting translations are stored and reused, so the same text does not need to be translated again.
The Technical Challenge
The main challenge was teaching the system to distinguish user-visible text that needs translation from HTML markup, technical elements and content that had already been processed.
We developed a set of universal HTML analysis rules that allow the system to:
- identify user-facing text elements;
- exclude technical code and irrelevant elements;
- avoid translating the same content repeatedly;
- gradually build its own translation dictionary;
- minimize requests to external translation services.
The Result
The solution reduced the workload for content managers and allowed the English version of the website to stay up to date automatically as new content was added.
Visitors now get a more consistent experience without isolated untranslated elements appearing throughout the website.
The architecture is also language-independent, making it possible to extend the same solution to any additional language, not just English.
